Hey, yo. It’s Buckeye Boy here. This is my little corner of the TEAM Sports Network in which I get to cover….well, whatever I want, really.
You know what that means, don’t you, Pile? Yeah, buddy! RASSLIN’!
I don’t get to talk a lot about the goings-on in the Squared Circle of Predetermined Outcomes. (And to break a little kayfabe here, I get it. I know why. The sports majority doesn’t really like professional wrestling. Either they don’t like it, don’t understand, don’t like to be entertained, or – my favorite – relentlessly make fun of it because they secretly watch it but can’t tell their buddies.)
This will be my little forum to talk rasslin’.
Here is what will be on this little blog;
-What I like and what I don’t like.
-Who is having a good run, and who isn’t.
-What I thought was a good bit from the previous, and the occasional dumb thing, too.
-Top Ten Wrestlers on the Week
This will be a rundown of who I think the top ten wrestlers on the planet are.
-Promo of the Week
This will be a current or classic piece of wrestling jibber-jabber that entertained me.
-This week in Wrestling TV
This will be your weekly viewing schedule
Top Ten Wrestlers of the Week
So, since this is our first gathering, I’m going to start a little differently. I’m going to give you MY top ten favorite of ALL-TIME. Then next week, we’ll get to the weekly stuff.
10 The Cleaner Kenny Omega
9 The King Of Strong-Style Shinsuke Nakamura
8 The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels
7 The Phenomenal AJ Styles
6 Stone Cold Steve Austin
5 Macho Man Randy Savage
4 The American Dream Dusty Rhodes
3 The Undertaker
2 Sting
1 Chris Jericho
Promo of the Week
Since he is my favorite wrestler of all-time (right now), my recommended Promo of the Week is Y2J’s debut in WWE. Jericho interrupted arguably the best talker at the time (and ever, honestly) when the Y2J Countdown hit zero on August 9, 1999 as The Rock was in the ring.
This week in Wrestling TV
MONDAY
WWE Monday Night Raw – USA Network 6pm MT
Raw emanates from Brooklyn as WrestleMania rolls in less than two weeks. The four big matches from the Raw roster (WWE Universal Champion Goldberg v. Brock Lesnar, WWE United State Champion Chris Jericho v. Kevin Owens, WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bayley v. Charlotte v. Sasha Banks, and The Undertaker v. Roman Reigns) will probably all get significant time.
TUESDAY
WWE Smackdown Live – USA Network 6pm MT
The Blue Brand is at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, in their run up to WrestlerMania. Their four big matches (WWE World Champion Bray Wyatt v. Randy Orton, WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss v. All, John Cena/Nikki Bella v. The Miz/Maryse, and AJ Styles v. Shane McMahon) will be the features for sure, with some of Smackdown’s brilliant writing being showcased.
WWE 205 Live – WWE Network 8pm MT
The Cruiserweights’ also go from the casino in their approach to the big show. Austin Aries challenges WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville at The Show of Shows in Orlando. So expect The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived to run his mouth at the King Of The Cruiserweights.
WEDNESDAY
WWE NXT – WWE Network 6pm MT
The WWE developmental brand runs from Florida as they approach their big show: NXT Takeover: Orlando, two days before ‘Mania.
FRIDAY
New Japan Pro Wrestling – AXStv 6pm MT
Tape-delayed programming from the World’s Second-Largest Promotion featuring some of the best talent not on American TV. These are often from months and months ago, although Jim Ross and Josh Barnett have the most ‘down the middle’ commentary of any group out there.
Anytime
WWE Network
Their library of their own stuff is great. But a hidden gem is the Collections and the Old School Promotions.
NPJWWorld
They have a lot of NJPW events done with English commentary.
WWN Live
Evolve, Shimmer, and their sister promotions all have a lot of good indie stuff if you’re willing to dig for it.
FloSlam
This up and coming streaming service has a lot of stuff from many different smaller indies. There is usually a gem or two a week on here.
