While the Rockies’ pitching has deserved their lion’s share of the blame, don’t let the offense off the hook for this eight game losing streak. The Rockies bats are ice cold, hitting just .208 during the losing streak. Let’s hope the return of Jon Gray to the rotation sparks them as they head to Arizona.
Mike Klis of 9 News says Paxton Lynch has gained ground of Trevor Siemian for the Broncos starting QB job. He says Lynch’s grasp of Mike McCoy’s new offense has helped him catch up to Siemian. Lynch’s success at Memphis was working out of the shotgun and McCoy’s system is better suited to the second year QB. Look, OTA’s and mini-camp aren’t where jobs are won, but can be a place where you put yourself in better position to win a job and it sounds like Lynch made the most of it.
Kevin Love, Eric Bledsoe and Jimmy Butler. All names that could have been on the back of a Nuggets jersey if things had gone different for Denver at the draft. The Nuggets were rumored to be in the hunt for all three, but came up short. A Butler or Bledsoe would have provided the back-court punch they need to go with Murray, Mudiay (if they dont’ trade him), Harris and Barton. Jokic is the young face of the team, but a young veteran who can score would be nice. Maybe its in free agency with Paul Milsap? Let’s hope.
A rebuilding Grand Junction High football team is losing one of their young building blocks. Sophomore left tackle Carson Lee and his family are moving from Grand Junction to Denver. Lee will play for Dave Logan at Cherry Creek and has already practiced with the Bruins. He most likely will be Creek’s starting left tackle. Just like when Dante Sparaco left Glenwood Springs, its tough to see talented players leaving to go to the Front Range. Good luck to Carson and his family!
