Jim Davis Show 3A quarterfinal football preview:
For the fifth straight year, the Western Slope Conference Palisade Bulldogs are into the 3A quarterfinals. It was supposed to be somewhat of a rebuilding year, the 9-2 Bulldogs head to Roosevelt this Saturday to face the 9-2 Roughriders. Coach Joe Ramunno and the Bulldogs fell to Mead 44-40 in wild quarterfinal match-up last season, while Roosevelt failed to make the playoffs. Palisade quarterback Cameron Tucker has battled injuries this season, but played great football during the second half of the season. Tucker has passed for 746 yards and added 990 on the ground to go along with 23 total touchdowns. Running backs Austin Bernal and fullback Terrence Williams have both rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Lane Wasinger is in his first year as the head coach at Roosevelt after coaching at Ft. Collins High School. Dual threat QB Trent Beall has passed for over 1,300 yards and has rushed for over 700 on the ground for the Roughriders. Beall is the key to Roosevelt’s spread attack, with the Roughrider defense only giving up 12 points per game in the second half of the season.
