Just a Few Thoughts..
Maybe I’m drunk from watching his tape, but Chad Kelly is going to be the Broncos starting QB in two years. The accuracy and arm strength are impressive, along with field vision that has me thinking that John Elway pulled off the steal of the draft at 253. Yes, Kelly has been a total idiot off the field and the wrist and knee injuries are a concern. If his head is on straight and his health has returned, Jim Kelly’s nephew might be the next great Bronco QB. Overall, Elway’s draft hit on need for speed on offense, a left tackle that hopefully won’t be the bust that Pro Football Focus thinks he is, a red zone threat with a name that makes us want to laugh like we’re in middle school, and a defensive line pass rusher that makes Blue Steel even nastier!
Nothing like playing in just two games in a series and being named the RMAC player of the week. Tanner Rempel is starting to get more chances backing up Kyle Serrano and he’s making the most of it. The Canadian catcher hit for the cycle against the School of Mines to win the weekly honor. The Mavs are hot on the heels of Angelo State to host the South Central region tournament. They hope to keep the pressure on next week when they host the RMAC Tournament. The TEAM Sports Network will have coverage starting on Wednesday.
JUCO Chairman Jamie Hamilton was on our morning show and says the next field improvement could be a walkway that covers all of Suplizio Field. It would connect the current ADA level in the tower to a walkway that would go all the way over the seats along the left field line. It would be an extension of the ADA area that could include concession areas and other amenities. The priority now is installing the new video screen in the outfield before the start of the series.
Every GJ Rockie player gets a host family and the team is trying to find players host families for the upcoming season. Tim Ray of the GJ Rockies says host families need to provide a safe, healthy environment. Players will spend about 45 nights with a host family. You can contract Ray through the GJ Rockies website for more info. Folks like Carma Brown have hosted players like former Rockie Eddie Butler and have made life-long connections. So if you have love baseball and have a spare room, give Tim a call.
We really enjoyed having listener Clint Bowers as our first TEAM One Day Contract winner. Clint served our country in the Marines and it was a pleasure to have him in studio with us. Clint is trying to start a foundation that helps veterans get into dirt bike riding to help them deal with their PTSD and other mental health challenges. Thanks again Clint!
