Just a few thoughts..
It’s early, but the Rockies have demonstrated they can hang with the elite of the NL West. A series win over the Dodgers (one of those against Kershaw) and a good Thursday win against Mad Bum as shown the Rockies new look bullpen will give them a chance. The series loss to San Diego is a head scratcher, but facing two unknowns in Cosart and Lee may have been the reason for the Rockies’ sluggish offense.
The Nuggets will make the playoffs next season. I finally like the direction under Michael Malone and the youth has to make you feel like there is hope. Jokic might be the next Tim Duncan (I don’t think Bill Walton was high when he made the comparison) Gary Harris might be their best two-way player and Murray, Plumlee and company are part of a young, exciting roster. Now if the Avs can figure it out..
This spring might be one of the best ever for Colorado Mesa sports. Chris Hanks’ baseball team leads the RMAC again, Ben Garcia’s softball team is in position to take another conference title and both lacrosse teams are conference champion contenders. Now will see if both baseball and softball can get over the South Central tournament hill that ended their seasons last year.
Don’t miss the CMU spring football practice tomorrow (Sat, Apr 15 at 10 AM at Bergman. Great chance for Mav fans to check out the RMAC champs.
Fruita Monument could be getting their new boys basketball coach sooner than later. Word is the Wildcats will hire a new coach as early as this coming week. It will be a young, successful coach that knows the lay of the land in the SWL.
Both the Central and Fruita Monument baseball teams are in good shape in the latest RPI in 5A. Both are in the top ten as the battle for the SWL title.
Saw the trailer for the new Star Wars: Last of the Jedi. Looks pretty amazing and getting Luke in the mix makes for an awesome movie!
